Introduction Within this large-scale study, we compared clinical symptoms, laboratory findings, radiographic signs, and outcomes of COVID-19, SARS, and MERS to find unique features. Method We searched all relevant literature published up to February 28, 2020. Depending on the heterogeneity test, we used either random or fixed-effect models to analyze the appropriateness of the pooled results. Study has been registered in the PROSPERO database (ID 176106). Result Overall 114 articles included in this study; 52 251 COVID-19 confirmed patients (20 studies), 10 037 SARS (51 studies), and 8139 MERS patients (43 studies) were included. The most common symptom was fever; COVID-19 (85.6%, P less then .001), SARS (96%, P less then .001), and MERS (74%, P less then .001), respectively. Analysis showed that 84% of Covid-19 patients, 86% of SARS patients, and 74.7% of MERS patients had an abnormal chest X-ray. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/JNJ-26481585.html The mortality rate in COVID-19 (5.6%, P less then .001) was lower than SARS (13%, P less then .001) and MERS (35%, P less then .001) between all confirmed patients. Conclusions At the time of submission, the mortality rate in COVID-19 confirmed cases is lower than in SARS- and MERS-infected patients. Clinical outcomes and findings would be biased by reporting only confirmed cases, and this should be considered when interpreting the data.Purpose This study assessed the level of knowledge about schizophrenia, insight into illness, and internalized stigma and their associated factors among patients with schizophrenia in Jordan. Design and methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted on 135 patients diagnosed with schizophrenia, who had been admitted to the largest psychiatric hospital in Jordan. Findings The participants had a low level of knowledge, insight, and a high level of internalized stigma. No correlation was found between these variables. Meanwhile, the educational level and vacation were found to be predictors of knowledge. Practice implications This can help psychiatric nurses to identify which area needs to be improved to ensure the best service and care is provided to patients diagnosed with schizophrenia.Despite well-known corrosion inhibition behavior of cathodic protection (CP) system, this process might be a potential hazard to surrounding ecosystem resulted mostly from continuous electrical current which is applied to the adjacent environment and metallic anode dissolution as well. In this research, deep water CP wells at different locations of Golestan province, Iran, were taken into consideration to evaluate the impact of these protective systems on underground waters from viewpoint of chemical and physicochemical characteristics resulted from anode dissolution. For this purpose, concentration of metallic constituents of the anode as well as the amount of pH, total dissolved solids (TDS), electrical conductivity (EC), and total hardness were determined. On the basis of obtained results, the concentration of Mn, Cr, and Fe in CP well located nearby an industrial district (i.e. 0.087, 0.475, and 8.5 mg.L-1 , respectively), was higher than both WHO and USEPA standards. This fact can be resulted from the position where the well was digged as well as the CP anode dissolution within the deep CP water wells.Using a model developed for estimating solar inactivation of viruses of biodefense concerns, we calculated the expected inactivation of SARS-CoV-2 virus, cause of COVID-19 pandemic, by artificial UVC and by solar ultraviolet radiation in several cities of the world during different times of the year. The UV sensitivity estimated here for SARS-CoV-2 is compared with those reported for other ssRNA viruses, including influenza A virus. The results indicate that SARS-CoV-2 aerosolized from infected patients and deposited on surfaces could remain infectious outdoors for considerable time during the winter in many temperate-zone cities, with continued risk for re-aerosolization and human infection. Conversely, the presented data indicate that SARS-CoV-2 should be inactivated relatively fast (faster than influenza A) during summer in many populous cities of the world, indicating that sunlight should have a role in the occurrence, spread rate, and duration of coronavirus pandemics. Background It is intractable to differentiate the malignancy from benignancy of cancer-suspected pulmonary nodules less than 8 mm. Methods The patients with small pulmonary nodules less than 8 mm which were suspected to be primary lung cancer underwent bronchoscopy and bronchoalveolar lavage. The level of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) and hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were assayed. Then, all patients underwent histopathological examination by means of surgical resection of nodules to determine their benignancy or malignancy. The nodules' benignancy and malignancy suggested by the biomarker panel consisted of VEGF, TGF-β and HGF in BALF were validated by the histopathological results to determine their screening efficiency. Results Among 405 patients with pulmonary nodules less than 8 mm, 252 and 153 were predicted to be malignant and benignant, respectively, by using the biomarker panel in BALF. Finally, 180 (71.4%) of 252 and 114 (74.5%) of 153 were validated to be truly malignant and benignant, respectively, according to the histopathological results. In a receiver operating characteristic curve analysis of screening efficiency for pulmonary nodules less than 8 mm, the results demonstrated that the AUC [0.807 (0.658-0.882)] of the biomarker panel in BALF was higher compared with that [0.605 (0.433-0.738)] of the biomarker panel in blood (P = .001). Conclusions For patients with cancer-suspected pulmonary nodules less 8 mm, a biomarker panel of VEGF, TGF-β and HGF in BALF demonstrated more eligible screening efficiency for the preliminary differentiation of malignancy from benignancy, by contrast with their level in blood as well as PET/CT.Cyclopianes are novel diterpenes featuring a highly strained 6/5/5/5 tetracyclic core embedded with 6-8 consecutive stereocenters. The concise total syntheses of (-)-conidiogenone B, (-)-conidiogenone and (-)-conidiogenol have been accomplished in 14-17 steps. The present work features a HAT-mediated cyclization of alkene-nitrile to access the cis -biquinane, a Nicholas/Pauson-Khand reaction to construct the linear triquinane, and a Danheiser annulation to afford the congested angular triquinane skeleton.Cyclopianes are novel diterpenes featuring a highly strained 6/5/5/5 tetracyclic core embedded with 6-8 consecutive stereocenters.
